I got curious and one conclusion is my photo library was much bigger in that era and there were some different meditational objects for Dharana and some similar!
Some musings ..

There are always other perspectives and if only defending one’s own there is no learning .

’ve been reflecting on why I’ve had a daily em

’ve been reflecting on why I’ve had a daily embodied breathing practice for over 22 years, and why I feel so nourished by this and classes i attend . These two words: Intelligent Connection.
Without that sense of connection, the experience feels flat—almost like some school classes I remember, that left me feeling, what’s the point?
interestingly, I know a teacher who guides a popular class under the name “yoga.” With great self-awareness, he openly tells participants: This is not a yoga class. If you want yoga, go to X or Y.
There’s space for all kinds of classes, but it is useful to honestly know what the offering is.
There is a lot shared in the name of yoga. Words like flow, yoga, meditation, yin—they can mean many things and that can create lack of depth and understanding . With clarity of language, we can better articulate our experience. That, in turn, helps us clarify ourselves, recognize the universality of our being, and rest in more ease. Without clarity, our experiences can feel muddled.
In Strictly Come Dancing a foxtrot is generally not done in the middle of a tango. The Distinctions create clarity.
Yes, we have one body. But when we explore the neck, muscles, or acromion within the context of pranayama or asana, they become gateways of consciousness and the ability to shift our experience of being . This is different from studying anatomy in a purely academic way. It surprises me when an anatomy teacher in a yoga teacher training program doesn’t have a long-term asana or pranayama practice. To experience the serratus anterior in a handstand is experiential. Studying asana and pranayama is not the same as arranging movements into shapes that look like asanas. A shape alone does not make an asana. Flow states are beautiful. Movement is beautiful. But not every experience of flow is an exploration of consciousness—even though consciousness can present . A “flow sequence” does not automatically equal yoga study. Similarly, “yin,” with its roots in the Chinese meridian system, is its own distinct approach.
Yoga presents itself—it does us, in a sense. Honesty and self-study are intrinsic to yoga study. How honust do we want?!
